Sycamore Cemetery Requirements

Absolutely no digging is to be done without authorization from one of the Cemetery Officials that can verify and layout the gravesite.                            !!!!!!!!!    NO EXCEPTIONS   !!!!!!!!!!!

Monuments or markers are required at all future graves. No graves are to be left unmarked. Funeral home markers alone are not accepted.

As of September 2012 we have a map showing each grave and each requested known site. To keep all information up to date we need to know every detail of sites. Please help us with this information. Rules have been set up to help with this process. Please realize that this is an old cemetery and rows were not started or kept straight. We are trying to straighten the rows and align to make adequate room for each grave without crowding. Sycamore Cemetery is a community cemetery that operates with donations. It is not a business and does not have a license to sell lots. Gravesites must be marked with the authorization of either preferably Michael Smith or one of the Cemetery Officials that will inform Michael so proper mapping can be updated. Some sites are marked on the map but not on the ground it’s self. Because of this the map needs to be present before marking or digging. Some gravesites are marked by bricks and such, however, we don’t know who they are requested for. Marking of only 2 gravesites per family at a time will be honored. Multiple sites will not be allowed or honored. We will try to allow family lines to remain family, however, we are a small cemetery and cannot guarantee this. Site markers, bricks or such must be authorized by mapping and placed at ground level to allow mowing. Bricks placed on the top of the ground will be removed. Approval must be obtained from all Cemetery Officials and family members of adjoining gravesites before any benches or other permanent fixtures can be set. This does not include the normal monument. The Cemetery has the right to move or remove any obstructions that hinder other sites, past, present and future. We need to leave adequate room for gravesites below and above each row. Some rows are tight and we need to respect others by not crowding them. Benches and such are creating problems with neighboring sites. Please be respectful of others. Monuments are to be placed straight and in line as possible. Coordination with cemetery officials is required before setting monuments. They will help with layout and positioning of the monument. Your help with these requests and requirements is appreciated. Thank you, Cemetery Officials: Michael Smith (304-562-5044, Cell 304-881-2146) Steve Miller (304-562-9183) Wade Rice (304-562-9557)
